West Mesquite High School offers both Culinary Arts I and II. The culinary program is offered to all 10th-12th grade students who have successfully completed Lifetime Nutrition and Wellness as a pre-requisite.
Culinary Arts I is an introductory, lab-based course where students learn basic food preparation techniques, knife skills, food safety, and sanitation.
Culinary Arts II (coming the 2014-2015 school year) is a practicum course that allows students an opportunity to receive employment training in a school-based lab to prepare them for a future in the food-service industry.
